Shitajiki are pencil boards, or underlays. Japanese students place them under their paper at school so they don't mark the pages underneath. Of course, they're also collectable and can be quite expensive.
I collect these foolish pieces of plastic ([link]) and did this drawing as thanks to a friend of mine in Japan who has helped me to track down many of my most wanted pencil boards.
The cat was modelled after one of this cats... and the girl... well, what guy doesn't like a cute girl in her underwear?
Things I like:
The hair! All that glorious hair.... and it's green ^_^
And the window... the background in the window itself took me a full Sunday from about 10:00am until 12:00pm... and my hand was so cramped by the end of it I couldn't let go of my graphic pen. My boyfriend hid it on me for three days so I couldn't 'hurt myself' any more..... No pain no gain my love!
Things I don't like:
The bed spread. I've never drawn one before, and this one definately needs work. Also the hand that's holding the board to her chest looks a little ackward.
But other than that I think this pic turned out really well and my friend was very pleased with it
